Grooming teachers – The lack of qualified teachers remains one of Afghanistan’s biggest human resource challenges. Poorly prepared teachers are unable to transfer knowledge and learning onto Afghan children and a high percentage of them continue to use counter-productive corporal punishment in the classroom.
HTAC-trained teachers to have a strong grasp of the psychology of learning and how to motivate children in positive ways. Our teachers also learn the principles of setting goals, developing lesson plans and the art of facilitation as well as instruction. HTAC also trained 3,000 teachers on critical teaching competencies and 296 principals on proper school management in Farah Province.

Strengthening capacities of local NGOs – Many well-intentioned NGOs operating in Afghanistan, lack the knowledge, capacity and skills to carry out their missions in helping their local communities.
HTAC provides technical and capacity-building training to such organizations in targeted (often underserved ) regions of the country so they can improve their performance and better serve to their communities. HTAC provided technical support and grants to building capacity of 20 Civil Society organizations in north Afghanistan since 2011 and improved their linkages with potential donors and local authorities.
